Excitement builds among gadget fans as Apple sends out invites to an event in California, thought to be the launch of iPhone 5S.
Apple has sent out invites featuring colourful polka dots
Apple is expected to launch its latest iPhone within days, after invites to an event at its American HQ were sent out.
It is believed the technology giant will unveil the iPhone 5S at an event in Cupertino, California on September 10.
The emailed invitation had a picture of the Apple logo surrounded by
multi-coloured polka dots and the sentence: "This should brighten
everyone's day."
The invite fuelled speculation that the latest generation of the
smartphone would come in colours others than the trademark black and
white.
The 5S will feature a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security along with a 12 or 13-megapixel camera, according to reports.
But there is also speculation that a second, cheaper version of the
iPhone will be unveiled this year called the iPhone 5C, and it could be
this device that is available in a range of colours.
The current iPhone model comes in just black and white
Analysts say the company needs a cheaper phone to encourage growth in
markets like China and India, and to counter Samsung's wide range of
devices at varying prices.
Apple previously announced it is introducing a new operating system -
iOS7 - described by chief executive Tim Cook as "the biggest change to
iOS since the introduction of the iPhone".
The new software has been designed to make the iPhone appear bigger,
with features crafted to take advantage of the entire screen.
Text is said to appear sharper, while a "control centre" on the phone
allows users to adjust settings with just one swipe from the bottom of
the screen.
This gives instant access to functions such as airplane mode, wi-fi,
Bluetooth or Do Not Disturb, and enables users to quickly pause or play a
song, jump to the next track and stream music.
A "notification centre" will now be available from the "lock" screen so users can view updates with a simple swipe.
Will you be buying the new iPhone and what is your opinion on the new features?
